Privacy policy
Elmsett runs this store. This page explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you can get at it. Questions go to hello@elmsett.com.
What we collect
- When you order: your name, delivery and billing address, email address and phone number, and what you bought.
- When you pay: your payment is processed by Shopify Payments. Card numbers are handled by the payment provider and are never stored by us; we see only the card type, the last four digits and whether the payment succeeded.
- When you contact us: whatever is in your message, including photos you send us about a rug.
- When you buy through a chat with us: the app we talked on (such as WeChat, Xiaohongshu, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, TikTok or text message) and your account name or number there, so we can follow up your order and look after you afterwards.
- When you browse: pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location from your IP address, and how you arrived at the site. This comes from cookies and similar technology.
We do not collect sensitive information, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Why we collect it
To take and deliver your order, issue a tax invoice, answer your questions, handle returns and warranty claims, keep the accounting records the law requires us to keep, protect the store against fraud, and – if you have asked for it – send you email about new rugs.
Who we share it with
- Shopify, which hosts this store and processes payments.
- Our warehouse and delivery carriers, who need your name, address, phone number and email address to deliver the rug and tell you when it is on its way.
- Google Workspace, which carries our email.
- Analytics and advertising providers, which receive usage data from cookies so we can see how the store performs.
- Our accountant, and government agencies where the law requires it.
Some of these providers store information outside Australia, including in the United States, Canada and the European Union. We share only what a provider needs, and we do not sell your personal information.
Cookies
Cookies keep your cart working and tell us how the store is used. You can block or delete them in your browser; the cart and checkout may stop working if you do.
Marketing
We only send marketing email to people who asked for it. Every one has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing does not affect emails about an order you have placed.
How long we keep it
Order and tax records are kept for 7 years, because Australian tax law requires it. Other information is kept only as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it.
Getting at your information
Email hello@elmsett.com to ask for a copy of what we hold, to correct it, or to ask us to delete it. We answer within 30 days. We may need to verify who you are first, and we may have to keep records the law requires us to keep.
Security
Access to customer information is limited to the people who need it. The store runs over HTTPS and payment data is handled by the payment provider, not by us.
Complaints
Email hello@elmsett.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change, and the date below tells you when it last changed.
